Hi! I’m a 30-year-old English teacher from Helsinki, Finland. I love to do sports and spend time outdoors hiking, camping or climbing. I am an avid reader and enthusiastic consumer of all kinds of culture (theatre, opera, music, art, cinema). I got my very first job when I was 14 delivering advertisements and when I was 17, I started my career at McDonalds. After a few years of flipping burgers, I landed a job at Kinopalatsi and spent the next 7 years selling movie tickets and working as an usher. The best part about that job was being able to see all the movies for free! I’ve also done an internship in New York as a web journalist, done freelance translating and lifeguarded in the States.

When I was younger I wanted to be a doctor (specifically a cardiologist) like my dad, but realized in high school that mathematics and chemistry really weren’t my strongest subjects. I have always wanted to write books, but I am also a realist, and I know how hard it is to make a living as a writer (especially science-fiction and fantasy).  I never wanted to become a teacher (it was sort of an accident), but I’m very glad that I did. I love to teach and I like to work with young people – they make me laugh every day.

I believe that by working hard dreams can come true and I still write my crazy stories when I get off work – maybe someday I’ll actually finish one 🙂

My motto:
Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. – Goethe
